Sgùrr Choinnich

Sgùrr Choinnich is a 999-metre Munro in the Northwest Highlands. It stands between Glen Carron and Loch Monar in the Achnashellach Forest. The mountain has steep grassy slopes and a narrow summit ridge running east to west. Crags on the northern side overlook Coire Choinnich’s corrie. The summit offers views north to the Coulin and Torridon ranges and south over Loch Monar’s wilderness. The hill is often climbed with nearby Sgùrr a’ Chaorachain, linked by a high bealach. Most walkers start near Craig in Glen Carron, following a track beside the Allt a’ Chonais burn. One route climbs the north ridge of Sgùrr a’ Chaorachain before continuing west to Sgùrr Choinnich. From the east, a clear ridge leads to Bealach Bhearnais, where a stalkers track meets the glen for a circular route. Visitors find grassy slopes, rocky ridges and sweeping views. The summit ridge provides fine outlooks over Coulin and Torridon peaks. Loch Monar’s wild expanse stretches southward from the top. Coire Choinnich’s corrie lies below the northern crags. Walkers can also explore nearby peaks like Beinn Tharsuinn and Sgùrr nan Feartaig.
