Alder Moors

Alder Moors is a Local Nature Reserve in Woodley, a suburb of Reading in Berkshire. It covers 8.5 hectares of ancient woodland with coppiced areas. The name comes from the alder trees that grow there. The reserve was declared a Local Nature Reserve in 1990 by Wokingham Borough Council. It supports a wide range of wildlife including mammals such as the red fox and European rabbit. Birds like the red kite and common buzzard can be seen flying overhead. Visitors find paths winding through the woodland where alder and other trees grow. Common frogs and grass snakes live among the undergrowth. The site also hosts many lichens, mosses and fungi, adding to its natural diversity.
