Hochkopf
The Hochkopf is a mountain in the Northern Black Forest, northeast of the Hornisgrinde. It stands 1,038.3 metres above sea level and forms part of a ridge that includes the Pfrimmackerkopf. The summit area is a grinde, an open highland landscape typical of the region. The plateau is covered with semi-protected forest known as Schonwald. The mountain lies within the Bühlertal conservation area. The Hochkopf is linked to the Black Forest High Road, which runs nearby at about 900 metres. Two former highland hotels, Hundseck and Unterstmatt, mark points along this route. Footpaths connect the road to the mountain’s slopes. On the southern side, a ski piste with a lift operates in winter. The Hochkopf Ski Lift serves skiers and visitors to the area. Visitors find open highland views and forested paths on the Hochkopf. The grinde landscape offers wide horizons and quiet walking routes. The nearby Black Forest High Road provides access to scenic viewpoints. The ski lift and piste attract winter sports enthusiasts. The conservation area ensures the landscape remains protected and unspoilt.
