Terezská brána

The Theresian Gate, in Czech Terezská brána, is one of the gates of the Olomouc fortress. It stands on the western side of the former ring of fortifications, on Palach Square, today a free standing structure whose ramparts and walls have long since disappeared. Its design combines Baroque solidity with classicist restraint and shows how carefully the entrances to a fortress town were staged. Since the middle of the twentieth century the gate has been protected as part of the urban conservation area of Olomouc.
