Pomník Lenina a Stalina

The monument to Lenin and Stalin in Olomouc was a typical work of socialist realism. It was created in the nineteen fifties in honour of the Soviet leaders Vladimir Ilyich Lenin and Joseph Vissarionovich Stalin, during the era known as the cult of personality. Monuments like this were meant to make the bond with the Soviet Union visible, and at the time they shaped many towns of the country. The place tells less about art than about politics and the changing fate of monuments.
