Eichberg Tower
The Eichberg Tower stands on the 369-metre-high Eichberg mountain above Emmendingen. It is an observation tower built by a citizens’ association formed in 1999. The tower was completed and handed over to the city on 17 September 2005. Its platform rises 10 metres above the surrounding oak forest. The structure’s top reaches over 17 metres, making it the highest observation tower in Baden-Württemberg. The tower’s platform is made of oak and rests on six Douglas-fir trunks arranged in a pyramid. A cylindrical stairway of sectional steel and fabricated steel leads to the top. The stairway has 240 oak steps. Visitors climb past the forest canopy to reach the open viewing area. At the top, wide views stretch across the Black Forest and the Rhine plain. On clear days the Alps can be seen to the south. The tower is open to the public and offers a quiet place to look out over the landscape.
