Pyhra Pfarrkirche

The Catholic parish church of St Corpus Christi stands beside the main road in Pyhra, a village in Gnadendorf municipality in Mistelbach district, Lower Austria. Its single nave and rectangular choir form a simple baroque rectangle, with a sacristy on the east side and a 19th-century bell tower above the roof. A modern porch now links the church to the old parsonage, creating one continuous building along the street. The church is worth visiting for its well-preserved baroque interior and its place in local religious history. The high altar carries an oil painting of the Last Supper from the 19th century, while side figures represent Saints Sebastian and Rochus. Franz Ullmann’s organ, built in 1845, still fills the nave with music during services. The building itself has been under official protection since the late 20th century, recognised as an important example of rural baroque architecture. Inside, the plain white walls focus attention on the altar painting and the two painted wooden saints. The 19th-century roof structure and bell tower give the exterior a quiet dignity. The former parsonage, now joined to the church, adds a domestic scale to the ensemble. Visitors can walk around the quiet village lanes and feel the calm of a place that has served the same community for centuries.
