Goldhawk Road tube station

Goldhawk Road station stands on the south side of Goldhawk Road in the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham. It lies about 250 metres west of Shepherd’s Bush Green, between Hammersmith and Shepherd’s Bush Market stations on the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines. The line through the area opened in 1864, but the station itself opened on 1 April 1914 when the original Shepherd’s Bush station was moved to its present site. The station sits in London fare zone 2 and is served by London Buses routes 94 and 237. The station offers a ticket office and two types of ticket machines. One machine accepts UK Sterling notes up to £20 and gives change in 10p, 50p, £1 and £2 coins, while the other only accepts overpayment up to 30p. Both machines take most major credit and debit cards, though each card can be used only once a day. Electronic Service Update Boards display live service information from the Network Operations Centre above St James’s Park station. A small coffee house operates inside the station building. Across Goldhawk Road is the south entrance to Shepherd’s Bush Market, a traditional covered market. Almost opposite the station stands a pie and mash shop, alongside other eating and drinking places. A short walk leads to Loftus Road, home of Queens Park Rangers football club. The O2 Shepherd’s Bush Empire, a historic music venue designed by Frank Matcham, is also nearby; it opened in 1903 for impresario Oswald Stoll.
