Fernmeldeturm Bad Kreuznach

The Fernmeldeturm Schanzenkopf stands on a hill called the Schanzenkopf near Bad Kreuznach. It is a 127-metre tall communications tower built by Deutsche Funkturm. The site serves as a transmission point for cable television signals sent by directional radio from the Ellerspring in the Soonwald forest. The tower fills gaps in radio and digital signals across the region. It broadcasts DAB+ digital radio since October 2023, helping to cover the city of Bad Kreuznach and surrounding districts. Analogue television used to be transmitted from here before switching to DVB-T at the Donnersberg site. Markus Lüttger once proposed using the tower for family and corporate events. Visitors reach the tower via the municipal area of Bad Kreuznach. The structure itself is not open to the public, but the hilltop offers wide views over the Nahe valley. The Soonwald forest lies nearby, and the Ellerspring transmitter site can be seen in the distance. The area around the tower is quiet, with open land and scattered woodland.
