Krumlkeeskopf

The Krumlkeeskopf is a 3,101-metre peak in the Goldberggruppe range on the border between Salzburg and Kärnten. It stands on a ridge that runs east from the Grossglockner High Alpine Road to the Hocharn. The mountain straddles the municipal boundaries of Heiligenblut to the south and Rauris to the north. Three routes lead to the summit, all graded as demanding. The Hochtor route leaves the tunnel’s south portal and joins the Central Alpine Trail 02. After passing the Roßschartenkopf and Hinteres Modereck, climbers face short roped sections before reaching the Noespitze and the final unroped ridge. The Sonnblick route follows the western section of the Central Alpine Trail from the Zittelhaus, crossing the Goldzechkopf and the Goldzechscharte before descending to the Otto-Umlauft Biwak. The Fleißtal route starts at the Apriacher Höhenstraße, follows the Fleißbach to the Fleißkuchl, and then climbs via the Otto-Umlauft Biwak to the summit. At the top visitors find a narrow, exposed crest with views across the Hohe Tauern. The Otto-Umlauft Biwak offers eight mattresses for those who need shelter, while the Fleißkuchl provides private accommodation in the valley. The Wallackhaus hotel sits beside the Grossglockner road and the Zittelhaus alpine hut crowns the Sonnblick. From any direction the final metres involve scrambling on steep rock and firm snow.
