Aldershot Lido

Aldershot Lido is a public open-air swimming pool in the town of Aldershot, Hampshire. It stands in a flat urban park surrounded by grass and trees. The site covers a large area with plenty of space for visitors to move around. The pool is Hampshire’s biggest outdoor lido and has a main swimming area plus three water slides. In 1948 it hosted the swimming part of the Modern Pentathlon during the London Olympics. The event drew athletes from several countries to compete in the open water. Visitors find a wide tiled pool with clear water, sunbathing lawns and shaded seating. The three slides drop into the main basin, and changing facilities sit beside the pool. The park around the lido has benches and small flowerbeds. On sunny days the atmosphere is relaxed and lively.
