Meall Dubh

Meall Dubh is a mountain top in the Scottish Highlands. It stands on the route from Loch Arkaig to Glen Moriston. A large cairn marks the summit. A rock rises forty metres south of the cairn. The mountain is listed as a Marilyn, a Corbett and a HuMP. It belongs to the special lists that classify Scottish peaks by height and prominence. Several societies check and collect these lists on the Database of British and Irish Hills. The height was last measured on 28 October 2001. Visitors reach the summit along the path between Loch Arkaig and Glen Moriston. The view stretches over wide Highland glens and lochs. The cairn and the distant rock are the main landmarks at the top. The surrounding hills rise and fall in gentle curves. The air is clear and the silence deep on the high plateau.
