Mutkogel

The Mutkogel stands at 3,309 metres in the Ötztal Alps on the Weißkamm ridge. It lies south of the Tiefenbachkogel and east of the Mittelbergferner glacier, between that glacier and the Tiefenbachferner. The summit can be reached from the Tiefenbachferner ski area via the north ridge. The route from the Braunschweiger Hütte takes two to three hours on foot. The south ridge requires UIAA grade I climbing. The mountain appears in Walter Klier’s Ötztal Alps guidebook, now in its twelfth edition. The guidebook describes the normal routes and grades for climbers. It also notes the position of the Braunschweiger Hütte, a key base for the ascent.
