Tilisuna-Schwarzhorn stands in the Rätikon range, a limestone chain in Vorarlberg. Its main summit reaches 2 460 m, with a long north–south ridge and steep slopes on either side. A second summit, Kleines Schwarzhorn, lies nearby, separated by the col Fürkele. The Tilisunahütte alpine club hut sits just below at 2 208 m, offering a base for climbers. The mountain’s rock faces and ridges draw mountaineers from across Europe.

The first ascent was made in 1853 by land surveyors mapping the region. Two well-known routes now lead to the top. The easier path starts at Tilisunahütte, crosses Schwarze Scharte, and takes 45 to 75 minutes. It was pioneered in 1883 by J. S. Douglass and Chr. Zudrell. A harder option follows the north ridge from the Grabs cable-car upper station, passing Alpe Alpila and Schwarzhornsattel in two to two and a half hours.

Visitors find sheer limestone walls and sweeping views over Vorarlberg. The Tilisunahütte provides shelter and food for those on longer tours. The ridge offers scrambling sections graded UIAA II, while the south route is mostly grade I. Both summits reward climbers with wide panoramas of the Rätikon peaks and the Rhine valley below.
