Ysgafell Wen North Top

Ysgafell Wen North Top is a subsidiary summit on a ridge in Snowdonia, North Wales. It stands north of the highest point on the same ridge, Ysgafell Wen, and overlooks the steep northern edge of Cwm Edno. The summit sits at the edge of the cwm where the ground falls sharply away. Small lakes called Llynnau’r Cwn lie around the top, giving the place its local name ‘the dog lakes’. To the west another top rises as Ysgafell Wen Far North Top. The ridge forms part of the broader Allt-fawr massif, a well-known upland area in Snowdonia. Walkers often pass this subsidiary summit on routes that link the main Ysgafell Wen with other peaks in the range. The lakes add a quiet, reflective quality to the high ground. Views stretch across the cwm and down to the valleys below. Visitors reach the top by following the ridge from Ysgafell Wen. The final metres are grassy and open, with no path needing to be followed. From the summit the lakes lie close by, their still water reflecting the sky. To the north the ground drops steeply into Cwm Edno, while the wider massif spreads out in every other direction.
