Europawarte

The Europawarte stands on the Schafberg northwest of Waitzendorf in the Weinviertel region of Lower Austria. It is a 26-metre observation tower built in 1980 and substantially renovated in 2018. The tower offers views across the surrounding countryside and towards the distant hills. The tower is dedicated to St Benedict and was designed to mark Europe’s cultural heritage. Its height and position make it a landmark for walkers exploring the gentle slopes of the Schafberg. The renovation ensured the structure remained safe and accessible for visitors. At the base of the Europawarte a small chapel and information boards explain the site’s purpose. A paved path leads up the hillside through vineyards and open fields. From the top platform the view stretches across the Weinviertel’s patchwork of vineyards, fields and woodlands.
