Kreßbach

Schloss Kreßbach stands in the village of Kreßbach, part of the Tübingen district Weilheim in the Regierungsbezirk Tübingen. Built in 1766–67 for the Freiherren von Saint-André, it is a rectangular structure with a low hipped roof. The main building features a shallow entrance projection and a portico with Tuscan columns. The outbuildings date from the 17th and 18th centuries, and the old cemetery contains a chapel and a picturesque timber-framed house. A rococo fountain and the castle garden from the same period remain intact. The building served as a state air-raid protection school during the Second World War. Today it houses the headquarters of the German Bone Marrow Donor Registry. The Freiherren von Saint-André commissioned the design in the mid-18th century, leaving behind a compact ensemble of late-baroque architecture. The cemetery chapel and the nearby timber house add to the site’s quiet historical character. Visitors find the main rectangular block with its Tuscan portico and low hipped roof. The surviving rococo fountain and castle garden offer shaded walks among 18th-century planting. The old cemetery chapel and the adjacent timber-framed house stand beside the entrance, completing the small but well-preserved ensemble.
