Gorfion

Gorfion is a mountain in Liechtenstein, part of the Rätikon range in the Eastern Alps. It stands near the border with Austria, in the south-eastern corner of the country. The peak rises above the village of Malbun, the main ski resort of Liechtenstein. Below its slopes lies the municipality of Triesenberg, known for its alpine meadows and traditional farmhouses. The mountain attracts hikers and climbers with routes that start from Malbun. One of the most popular paths leads to the Gorfion Hut, a mountain refuge at 2,000 metres. The hut offers simple meals and shelter for those on longer treks. In winter, the area becomes a quiet snowshoeing destination, with clear views of the surrounding peaks. From the summit ridge, visitors look down on the Rhine Valley and the distant villages of Liechtenstein. The contrast between the rugged limestone cliffs and the gentle slopes below is striking. On clear days, the panorama stretches as far as the Swiss Alps and the Black Forest in Germany. The mountain’s isolation and height make it a favourite spot for photographers and nature lovers.
