Streap
Streap is a mountain peak on the route from Mallaig to Fort William in the Scottish Highlands. It stands at grid reference NM946863 and has a small cairn on its summit. The mountain is classified as a Marilyn, a Corbett, a Sub Murdo and a HuMP, showing its importance among British and Irish hills. Organisations update and verify these lists on the Database of British and Irish Hills. The height was last measured on 28 October 2001. Its classifications place Streap among notable hills in Scotland. Marilyns are hills with a relative height of at least 150 metres. Corbetts are Scottish hills between 2,500 and 3,000 feet high. Sub Murdos are peaks over 3,000 feet that do not qualify as Munros. HuMPs are hills with a topographic prominence of at least 100 metres. Walkers reach Streap along paths that cross rough terrain and heather slopes. The summit offers wide views over the surrounding glens and lochs. On clear days Ben Nevis and other high peaks appear to the south-east. The route from Mallaig follows the old military road built in the 19th century. The final climb to the cairn is short but steep, rewarding climbers with a quiet spot above the valleys.
