Ontario Tower

The Ontario Tower stands in Blackwall, on the north bank of the River Thames in London’s former docklands. It is part of the New Providence Wharf development, a modern residential complex built on reclaimed dockside land. The tower was designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill and completed in 2006 by Ballymore. Its exterior combines glass and aluminium, with a distinctive sloping roof outlined by a blue LED ellipse. At 105.55 metres, it has 32 floors and contains 256 apartments. The tower’s sleek design reflects the regeneration of east London’s docklands in the early 21st century. It replaced older industrial structures with high-quality housing close to the river. Its location offers views across the Thames towards Canary Wharf and the City. The development sits within walking distance of East India DLR station, linking residents to central London. Visitors approaching the tower see its glass façade reflecting the sky and water. The elliptical LED ring at the top glows blue at night, marking the building’s outline. Nearby, the dockside paths provide riverside walks with benches and small green spaces. The area around New Providence Wharf still shows traces of its industrial past, now framed by modern architecture.
