Pirelli Stadium

Pirelli Stadium stands on Princess Way in Burton upon Trent, Staffordshire. It is the home of Burton Albion FC and replaced the club’s old Eton Park ground. The stadium occupies the former site of the Pirelli UK Tyres sports club. Pirelli donated the land in exchange for naming rights. The club spent £7.2 million to build the ground in 2005. The stadium has inspired newer grounds across England. Architects Hadfield, Cawkwell and Davidson designed it. It gained a safety certificate from Staffordshire County Council in 2010. The record attendance of 6,746 came for a match against Derby County. In European competitions it is called Burton Albion FC Stadium. Visitors find four single-tier stands surrounding the pitch. The South Stand is the only seated area, holding 2,034 seats. The other three stands are terraced. A wide full-colour scoreboard hangs above the visitor stand. The ground sits close to Pirelli’s national distribution centre.
