chartreuse de la Vallée-de-Josaphat

The Charterhouse of Olomouc was a monastery of the Carthusian order, known in Latin as Domus Vallis Josephat, the house in the valley of Josaphat. It was founded in 1437 as the successor of the charterhouse at Dolany, which had perished during the Hussite wars. The monastery stood on a rise in the north eastern part of the historic centre, where the streets Koželužská, Hanáckého pluku and Dobrovského run today. The buildings themselves are long gone.
