Glas-leac Beag

Glas-leac Beag is a small island in the south-east of Tanera Mòr, part of the Summer Isles in the Highlands. It lies about five and a half kilometres north-west of Ullapool on the mainland. The island covers eleven hectares and reaches twenty-nine metres above sea level at its highest point. It marks the last stop for yachts following the popular route from Ullapool to Stornoway. No one lives on the island, so visitors find quiet and open space. The surrounding waters belong to the sheltered waters of the Summer Isles. A low rocky shoreline surrounds the island, with no buildings or marked paths. Views stretch across the Minch to the Isle of Lewis on clear days. The island’s isolation and small size make it a place for short visits or a pause on longer sailing trips.
