Rauher Berg

Rauher Berg stands in the Rätikon range of the Eastern Alps, close to the border between Austria and Liechtenstein. It rises near the Liechtenstein capital of Vaduz, with the village of Malbun at its foot. The mountain overlooks the municipality of Triesenberg on its eastern slopes. Its summit reaches 2 094 metres above sea level. The mountain is recognised as one of the country’s main ski resorts. Trails lead from Malbun up through alpine meadows and past stands of larch. In winter the resort offers prepared pistes and a snowpark for freestyle skiing. Summer brings marked hiking routes and a cable car that climbs to intermediate stations. Visitors find wide views across the Rhine valley and into Switzerland. A network of paths connects Malbun with neighbouring peaks such as Naafkopf. The upper slopes remain snow-covered into early summer, while lower routes pass through flower-rich pastures. The contrast between rugged peaks and gentle high meadows gives the area its character.
