New Meadow

New Meadow stands on the southern edge of Shrewsbury, between Meole Brace and Sutton Farm, close to the A5. It replaced Gay Meadow, the club’s home since 1910, and opened in time for the 2007–08 season. The stadium was built by Hall Construction to a £11.2 million budget, with four fully covered stands and space for 10,000 seated spectators. It also includes hospitality boxes, function rooms, a club shop and offices, plus a 670-space car park. Community pitches and a 5G football facility sit alongside the main ground. The ground has carried several sponsor names since opening, starting with Prostar and later Greenhous and Montgomery Waters. In June 2023 it became The Croud Meadow after a local digital marketing firm took the naming rights. The East Stand, named after chairman Roland Wycherley, holds the club shop and changing rooms. The South Stand, sponsored by Salop Leisure, now features a safe-standing section for 550 fans. The North Stand, the DMOS People Stand, hosts away supporters and the stadium control room. Visitors find four detached stands arranged around the pitch, each with its own catering and toilets. The West Stand, sponsored by Rybrook Shrewsbury, is the largest with 3,317 seats. A memorial garden near the entrance honours past players and staff, and a community centre opened behind the South Stand in 2016. Shropshire Football Association also has its county office on site. The stadium’s first competitive match saw Shrewsbury beat Colchester United 1–0 in the League Cup, with Darran Kempson scoring the winner.
