Beinn Bhàn

Beinn Bhàn is a mountain in the Highlands, standing along the route from Applecross to Achnasheen. Its summit reaches 896 metres and bears a small cairn. The peak belongs to three recognised lists: Marilyns, Corbetts and HuMPs, which classify hills by height and prominence. These lists are maintained by hill-walking societies that measure, verify and compile the data. Their work appears on the Database of British and Irish Hills website. The last precise survey of Beinn Bhàn’s height was carried out on 28 October 2001. Walkers reach the top by following paths that climb through open moorland and rocky slopes. The view from the summit takes in the Applecross peninsula and the Torridon mountains. On clear days Ben Nevis and the Cuillin of Skye appear in the distance. The landscape shows the raw beauty of the far north-west Highlands.
