Wien Quartier Belvedere railway station

The halt serves the main S-Bahn line through Vienna, running beneath the Gürtel ring roads where the 3rd, 4th and 10th districts meet. It sits beside the Prinz-Eugen-Straße and Arsenalstraße crossroads, directly opposite the Baroque Belvedere palace. The station replaced part of the old Südbahnhof after its southern tracks closed in 2009. Built in 1962 and modernised in 2015 for about eight million euros, it once linked to the Südbahnhof’s concourse. In 2012 it was renamed to mark the new Quartier Belvedere district rising on the former rail yards. Future work will lengthen the platforms to 220 metres and add a new lift in the Schweizergarten park. Two underground side platforms lie below street level, reached by lifts and stairs. Above ground, trams D, O and 18 stop right outside, connecting the halt to the city centre. The surroundings mix historic palace façades with new apartment blocks and tree-lined boulevards.
