Concordia Theatre

Concordia Theatre stands on Stockwell Head in Hinckley, a town in the borough of Hinckley and Bosworth. It opened in 1972 after volunteers converted a disused hosiery factory. The first show was a sold-out production of The Sound of Music. The theatre seats about 400 people and is run entirely by volunteers. It provides a home for several local amateur societies. These groups put on around thirty productions every year. They include the Concordia Amateur Operatic Society, the Stanley Opera Company, and the Community Guild. The Broughton Astley Drama Society and the Concordia Youth Theatre also stage shows here. The Pantomime Company and the Tinhatters are among the other regular performers. Each group brings its own style and energy to the stage. Visitors find a welcoming theatre with a warm atmosphere. The auditorium seats four hundred in comfortable rows. The stage hosts musicals, plays, and pantomimes throughout the year. The foyer often buzzes with activity before performances. The building itself keeps the memory of its industrial past in its brick walls.
