Hangerer

Hangerer is a mountain peak in the Austrian Alps. It stands in the Imst district of Tyrol, about 400 kilometres west of Vienna. The summit reaches 3,020 metres above sea level, rising 144 metres above its surroundings. Its base is only 470 metres wide, making it a narrow but prominent ridge. The area around the peak is mostly steep, rugged terrain. Sölden, the nearest town, lies 14.9 kilometres to the north. The mountain is part of a largely uninhabited landscape. The region has only 38 people per square kilometre, so visitors find wide open spaces. Grasslands cover most of the slopes, with little woodland or settlement nearby. The lack of crowds makes it ideal for those seeking quiet and solitude. The thin air and rocky paths demand good fitness and preparation. From the top, the view stretches across the high valleys of the Ötztal range. On clear days, the snow-capped peaks of the Wildspitze and Weißkugel are visible. The contrast between the green lower slopes and the grey summit rocks is striking. A steady climb rewards walkers with a sense of isolation and raw alpine beauty. The route is not for beginners, but experienced hikers appreciate its challenge.
