Trinity Methodist Church, Harrogate

Trinity Methodist Church stands in the centre of Harrogate, a spa town in North Yorkshire. Built between 1876 and 1879, it is a Gothic-style building with a three-bay porch, nave, sanctuary and transepts. The architect was George Woodhouse, and local craftsmen carried out the stonework, joinery, painting and glazing. A tower and spire were added to the north-west corner in 1889. The church was renovated again between 2009 and 2011 to preserve its features. Inside, the church holds a three-manual pipe organ built in 1880 by Forster and Andrews. The organ was restored in 1923 by Brindley and Foster and again in 1949 by Henry Willis. George Frederick Naylor served as organist from 1894 to 1897. The building is recognised as a Grade II listed structure. Visitors find a calm interior with high ceilings, pointed arches and stained-glass windows. The organ case and pipes remain a focal point, while the tower and spire rise above the town. The church sits among other listed buildings in Harrogate’s Stray Ward, a short walk from the town’s gardens and squares.
