Heilandskirche Amstetten

The Heilandskirche stands in a small park on Preinsbacher Straße in Amstetten, a town in the Mostviertel region of Lower Austria. It is a Lutheran parish church under the Evangelical Superintendentur A. B. Niederösterreich. The building is protected as a listed monument, recognised for its architectural and historical importance. The church began as a preaching station in 1913 and became an independent parish in 1922. It was designed by architects Friedrich Rollwagen and Rudolf Pamlitschka and built between 1955 and 1957 under the guidance of pastor Gustav Weinberger. The church was consecrated by Bishop Gerhard May, marking its place in the region’s religious history. Inside, the church features an open roof structure supported by a row of slender round pillars placed off-centre. The simple rectangular building has a pitched roof and varied window shapes. Nearby stands the older parish house, built in 1905 by master builder Adolf Prokesch, a villa with rich decorative bands and half-timbering, and ornate stucco ceilings on the upper floor.
