Hintere Stangenspitze
The Hintere Stangenspitze is a mountain peak in the Austrian Alps. It stands in the Schwaz district of Tyrol, in the western part of the country. The summit reaches 3,225 metres above sea level. Nearby, the landscape is dominated by bare peaks and ice formations. Mayrhofen, the closest large settlement, lies 14.6 kilometres to the northwest. This peak is the highest in its immediate surroundings. Its remote position makes it a quiet destination away from crowded trails. Climbers value it for the clear views over the surrounding ranges. The stark, icy terrain offers a challenge to experienced hikers. The area’s isolation also attracts those seeking solitude in the high mountains. Visitors find a rugged, high-altitude environment with little vegetation. Snow and ice often cover the ground even in summer. The route to the top follows steep, rocky paths. The final climb requires sure-footedness and a head for heights. From the summit, the horizon stretches over endless mountain ridges.
