Bournemouth Little Theatre club

Bournemouth Little Theatre Club is an amateur drama club founded in 1919. It stands on the upper floor of an old industrial building on Jameson Road in Winton, Bournemouth. The theatre has an intimate auditorium with 95 seats and a small area behind it for serving interval teas and coffees. A corridor leads to the Green Room Bar and other facilities. The building was originally designed in the 1930s as a staff canteen for a garage below. The club stages six to eight productions a year, including dramas, thrillers, comedies and farces. It is the only local group with its own dedicated premises. The Little Theatre Guild of Great Britain counts it among its members. The club has won Curtain Call awards, the local ‘Oscars’ given by the Bournemouth Daily Echo. In the past it has also hosted professional shows and morning teas on its premises. Visitors find a modest but well-adapted theatre with a raked auditorium built in 2000. The Green Room Bar offers drinks before and after performances. Interval teas and coffees are served in a small space behind the auditorium. The club’s newsletter, sent every two months, keeps patrons informed of coming shows. Despite its small size, the theatre remains a lively centre for live drama in the area.
