Schloss Plüschow stands in the village of Plüschow in North-west Mecklenburg. The plain two-storey brick house with eleven window axes was built in 1763 as a summer residence for a Hamburg merchant. The estate had belonged to the von Bülow family since 1450 before passing to Philipp Heinrich Freiherr von Stenglin in 1758.

The building is worth the journey because its interiors still show the original room layout and decoration. Three classicist stoves from about 1810 survive on the upper floor, and the ground floor features rococo stucco ceilings. The central courtyard façade is enlivened by small gabled dormers, while the garden side carries a 19th-century veranda.

Visitors find a working artists’ house run by a local association. Large rooms serve as exhibition spaces, studios and workshops. A children’s creative studio offers art, sound, theatre and environmental projects. Nearby stands the former steward’s house from 1760, and a long single-storey storehouse built between 1924 and 1928 now hosts exhibitions by Mecklenburg artists.
