Rehleitenkopf

The Rehleitenkopf is a mountain rising to 1,338 metres in the eastern Mangfallgebirge range of the Bavarian Alps. It stands on the edge of the Wendelsteingruppe near Flintsbach am Inn in the district of Rosenheim. A narrow ridge links it to the nearby Grosse Riesenkopf, only 700 metres away and just one metre lower. The mountain’s western side drops steeply down more than 700 metres to the Förchenbach valley, where the Tatzelwurm road winds below. A wooded slope called the Rehleite covers this steep section. The eastern flank slopes more gently to the Hohe Asten farm, about 200 metres below the summit. The top is a rocky outcrop crowned by a wooden cross that emerges from the surrounding forest. The shortest climb starts from a car park on the Tatzelwurm road at 783 metres. The last 200 metres can be walked in a loop, though returning by way of the Hohe Asten adds another short rise of about 35 metres. A longer route begins in Flintsbach at 484 metres, passing the ruins of Unter-Falkenstein castle, Petersberg hill and the Bauer am Berg farm before reaching the summit.
