The Nürnberger Burgtheater is a small theatre in the city of Nürnberg dedicated to cabaret, comedy and light entertainment. It stands in the Füll, a narrow street in the old town near the Pegnitz river. The building is a former warehouse, its brick walls and high windows giving it an unpretentious, practical look.

The theatre began in 1982 after a local association was founded three years earlier. In 1987 it received a city grant and in 2009 a further prize from the same fund. Since 1984 it has held the Kabarett-Tage, a fortnight-long festival each November that brings the best German-language cabaret to the stage. Since 1991 the theatre has also run the Deutscher Kabarett-Preis, awarded each year to a rising comic talent.

Inside, the auditorium seats fewer than two hundred people on red seats arranged in steep rows. The stage is small and plain, letting the performers’ wit take centre stage. The foyer is narrow, its walls covered with posters of past shows. Outside, the Füll is quiet in the afternoons, the river’s flow audible beyond the walls.
