Türnleberg
The Türnleberg rises to 793 metres just north of Villingen-Schwenningen in Baden-Württemberg. It sits on the old border between Baden and Württemberg, close to the Burgrain hill. The landscape here is gentle farmland dotted with small woods and tracks. Archaeologists found a 34-metre-wide burial mound of a Celtic chieftain 120 metres southwest of the summit. A short walk along the Türnlebergweg from Burgrain leads to the mound on the right side of the B 523. Traces remain of a Celtic settlement and a medieval castle, though little is visible today. Visitors follow quiet paths up through meadows and young forest. At the top a modest trig point marks the highest point. The wide view stretches over the Baar lowlands to the Black Forest on clear days.
