Legoland Windsor

Legoland Windsor stands on the site of the former Windsor Safari Park, 13 kilometres west of London. The park opened in 1996 and is run by Merlin Entertainments. It is built around Lego models, rides and building workshops for young children. In 2019 the resort welcomed 2.43 million visitors, making it Britain’s most popular theme park. It draws more guests every year than the original Legoland in Billund, Denmark. The park covers 150 acres of gently sloping ground beside Windsor Great Park. Heathrow Airport and parts of London can be seen from the entrance plaza. The resort’s eleven themed lands include Miniland, Lego City and Lego Mythica. Miniland contains scale replicas of famous buildings made entirely of Lego bricks. Lego Mythica opened in 2021 and features the United Kingdom’s first flying theatre ride, Flight of the Sky Lion. Knight’s Kingdom centres on The Dragon roller coaster, which reaches speeds of 48 kilometres per hour. Bricktopia opened in 2024 with a new dual-tracked roller coaster called Minifigure Speedway. The park also has water play areas, puppet theatres and family restaurants. Visitors enter through The Beginning, where the Hill Train funicular climbs 27 metres over 300 metres of track. The BIG Shop sells more Lego than any other store in the country. Fairy Tale Brook carries boats past Lego models of storybook characters. Duplo Valley offers gentle rides for toddlers and a water splash area with slides. Heartlake City has a Lego Friends boat ride around a miniature town. From the Creation Centre visitors can watch model makers at work on life-size Lego figures.
