Das Depot

Das Depot is a Bremen tramway museum opened in 2003 by the Freunde der Bremer Straßenbahn association. It sits in part of the Sebaldsbrück depot on Schloßparkstraße in the Hemelingen-Sebaldsbrück district. The museum keeps a permanent display in four sections and also runs an archive of local public transport history. The exhibition shows how Bremen’s trams and buses developed over time. The oldest vehicle on show is horse tram number 23 from 1888. Other exhibits include tram 49, which ran from 1900 to 1954, and the first articulated tram, number 917, built in 1955. The collection also features buses such as the 1972 MAN articulated bus 225 and the 1988 Neoplan low-floor bus 4919. Visitors walk through the wagon hall to see the restored trams and buses. Labels explain each vehicle’s service life and technical details. The museum’s archive holds timetables, tickets and company records for research. On special days the association organises extra displays and guided tours.
