Star Lane

Star Lane is a Docklands Light Railway station in Canning Town, east London. It sits on the Stratford International extension between Stratford and Canning Town, opened in 2011. The site once formed part of the Eastern Counties and Thames Junction Railway, opened in 1846. The line later became part of the North London line in 1979. After the tracks were converted for the DLR, the station was built with two platforms. It was originally planned to be called Cody Road station before opening. The station has an island platform reached by a footbridge. Local people call the footbridge ‘the peggy leggy steps’. The artwork Places of Exchange by Toby Paterson decorates the glass panels with tessellated patterns inspired by the area. A new pedestrian crossing was added on Star Lane. Small changes were made to roads near Manor Road and Star Lane to fit the station in. Star Lane DLR station serves the Star Lane area in North Canning Town. It stands just north of the Canning Interchange, where buses, the Jubilee line and other DLR services meet. The A13, A1011 and A124 roads converge nearby. In 2012 the station faced the Uniform Distribution and Accreditation Centre for the Olympics. London Buses routes 276 and 323 stop outside the station.
