Oakwood Theme Park

Oakwood Theme Park stands in Pembrokeshire, Wales, on land once owned by the McNamara family who turned to leisure after milk quotas arrived in 1987. The park opened in April 1987 with a narrow-gauge railway, BMX courses and a wooden play fort. Over the years it grew from a small family-owned site into a major amusement park with thrill rides and themed areas. The park became known for Megafobia, a wooden roller coaster opened in 1996 that helped push annual attendance past half a million visitors. Vertigo, a Skycoaster, Bounce, a drop tower, and Hydro, a shoot-the-chute ride, were added later. Speed: No Limits opened as the steepest coaster in the United Kingdom before moving to France in 2025. Visitors found a mix of rides and attractions including a 3D cinema, go-karts and water slides. The park ran an annual After Dark event with fireworks and late-night entry. A themed soundtrack produced by Nick Hutson played across the site from 2018.
