Dillblick
The Dillblick is an open timber tower standing 17 m above the ground, with its viewing deck 14 m up. It rises north of Herborn’s town centre beside the H0 walking trail, close to the wildlife park and below the Dollenberg motorway service area on the A 45. The structure was completed in three months and opened on 20 December 2015. Its frame is built from Douglas fir beams braced with steel connectors, forming a square base that widens from 6 m to 7.5 m at the top. A stainless-steel roof shelters visitors and carries a small photovoltaic array. Four outer and four inner posts support the platform without enclosing it, so the view remains unbroken. Visitors climb to the deck and look across the surrounding countryside. The tower stands beside the Dollenberg wildlife park, where deer can be seen from the path. A webcam on the structure streams live images of the view. The nearby motorway service area offers a short walk back to the car.
