Stolper Heimatstuben

The Stolper Heimatstuben are small local history museums that preserve the regional culture of the former East Pomeranian city of Stolp and its surrounding district, now part of Słupsk in Poland. They stand in two Bonn districts: Beuel and Auerberg. The first room opened in Beuel in 1958 after the city of Bonn took responsibility for the Stolp region in 1956. A second, larger space with an archive opened in Auerberg in 2004. The museums hold the world’s largest collection of documents about the former Stolp district. Exhibits include Pomeranian church records, old photographs, maps and paintings by local artist Otto Priebe. Researchers and visitors with family ties to the area come from Germany, Poland and the United States. The archive is open on the first Saturday of each month, while the Beuel room is available by appointment. Visitors find several themed rooms in Auerberg. The Priebe Room displays his landscapes and portraits painted between 1886 and 1945. The Pomerania Room shows everyday objects and keepsakes from the region’s past. Both sites are run by volunteers from the Stolper Heimatkreise association, which was founded in 1986.
