Schloss Neuegling

Schloss Neuegling stands in the village of Neuegling, part of Murnau am Staffelsee in the Upper Bavarian district of Garmisch-Partenkirchen. The castle was built between 1910 and 1913 by Carl Hocheder in a style that blends historicist and Art Nouveau elements. It is privately owned by the von Poschinger-Camphausen family, who have preserved its original character. The building served as a filming location for the ZDF television series ‘Heartbeat – The Clinic by the Lake’. Its listed status in Bavaria recognises its architectural and cultural significance. The castle’s exterior features a mix of brick and plaster facades with tall, narrow windows and steeply pitched roofs. Inside, the grand staircase and panelled rooms reflect the craftsmanship of the early 20th century. The surrounding park, with mature trees and manicured lawns, adds to the estate’s stately atmosphere. The building’s location near Staffelsee offers views of the lake and the distant Alps on clear days. Visitors approach the castle along a tree-lined driveway that leads to the main entrance. The façade’s decorative details, including arched window frames and ornamental gables, draw the eye upward. Inside, the spacious halls and reception rooms retain their original fixtures and fittings. The park provides a quiet setting for a walk, with benches placed to enjoy the scenery. The castle’s setting, between lake and mountains, makes it a notable landmark in the region.
