Fernmeldeturm Bornberg
The Fernmeldeturm Bornberg stands on the Bornberg hill near Eßweiler in the North Palatine Upland. It is a 151-metre telecommunications tower built by Deutsche Funkturm as a standard design tower. The structure serves as a transmission facility for FM radio signals across the region. The tower carries several FM radio programmes and broadcasts digital radio in DAB+ format. It operates in vertical polarisation and uses a single-frequency network with other local transmitters. This ensures clear reception even in the surrounding valleys and hills. Visitors find a tall lattice tower rising above the forested summit. The site is reached by a short walk from the nearest car park along a woodland path. The tower itself is not open to the public, but the views from the hilltop are wide over the rolling countryside. On clear days the countryside stretches as far as the Donnersberg, the highest point in the Palatinate.
