Falls of Divach

The Falls of Divach is a waterfall in the Highland council area of northern Scotland, about 700 km north of London. It sits in a small valley at an elevation of 111 metres above sea level. The surrounding land rises gently into low hills, giving the spot a quiet, enclosed feel. Nearby Beauly, the nearest town, lies 18.7 km to the north. A mix of pine and birch trees covers most of the ground around the falls. The falls themselves drop over a modest rock face into a pool below. The water comes from a burn that collects rain and meltwater from the surrounding slopes. Visitors can reach the base of the cascade by following a short path through the woodland. The sound of the water grows louder as the path descends into the valley. At the bottom, the pool is deep enough for small fish to shelter in its eddies. The water remains cool even in summer, fed by springs higher up the hillside. A wooden fence marks the edge of the viewing area for safety. From here the falls can be seen clearly, framed by the trunks of Scots pines and rowan trees.
