Monte Lieto

Monte Lieto is a mountain in the Sibillini Mountains national park, standing at 1,940 metres above sea level. Its southern slopes lie in the province of Perugia, while the rest belongs to Macerata in the Marche region. The mountain helps form the Rapegna and Valloprare valley together with Punta di Valloprare and Monte Pian Falcone. Nearby villages include Spina di Gualdo and Castelluccio di Norcia, both within easy reach of the slopes. The mountain offers several routes for walkers, starting from Cona, Punta di Valloprare, Monte Pian Falcone and Valloprare itself. These paths lead through open meadows and rocky ridges, giving views across Umbria and the surrounding peaks. The climb rewards visitors with wide horizons and a sense of isolation despite the nearby settlements. At the summit, the panorama stretches over the Sibillini range and down to the valleys below. The contrast between the high ground and the gentle slopes makes the landscape striking. In clear weather, the Adriatic coast can be glimpsed to the east.
