Cefn Bryntalch Castle
Cefn Bryntalch Castle stands in the rolling countryside near Llandysul in Powys. It is a medieval earthwork castle, built between 1000 and 1153 as a motte-and-bailey. The site includes a large mound surrounded by a defensive bank and ditch. The castle is one of the largest groups of such earthworks in Britain. It lies in the historic borderlands known as the Welsh Marches. Cadw recognises the site as a scheduled monument, listed under reference MG014. Visitors find a grassy mound rising above the surrounding fields. The remains of the old defences can still be seen. The setting offers quiet views across the Welsh countryside. The site is peaceful and little changed since the Middle Ages.
