Pfarrkirche Mariae Sieben Schmerzen Imsterberg

The Pfarrkirche Mariä Sieben Schmerzen stands in Endsfeld, a village in the municipality of Imsterberg in the district of Imst, Tirol. It is a Roman Catholic parish church surrounded by a cemetery. The church is protected as a historic monument. The church is worth visiting for its layered history and fine craftsmanship. First mentioned in 1390, it was rebuilt in 1687 and again in 1791. The tower dates from 1828 and the facade was renovated in 1977. The late Baroque building features a recessed choir with a flat apse and an eastern sacristy. Its twin-portal design and gable mosaic of Christ as builder, Sacred Heart and Mary add to its character. Inside, the church holds a unified 19th-century interior. The high altar displays a Gothic Pietà from the early 15th century, flanked by figures of Saint Barbara and John the Evangelist. Side altars feature paintings by Johann Kärle from 1872. The organ’s main case dates from about 1803, and a bell from 1704 hangs in the tower. Nearby, the protected vicarage and a war memorial chapel with a Pietà by Thomas Walch complete the site.
