Kleines Theater

The Kleine Theater stands in the Berlin district of Friedenau, part of the Tempelhof-Schöneberg borough. It occupies the corner building at Südwestkorso and Taunusstraße, a site once home to the Korso cinema before it closed. Since its founding in 1973 by Sabine Fromm, the theatre has become a focal point for small-scale performing arts in the area.
The theatre is a classic chamber play house with 99 seats and a small bar at the rear of the auditorium. For many years it hosted the musical revue *Das Küssen macht so gut wie kein Geräusch* to great acclaim. In 2006, after 33 years, the leadership changed hands when director Karin Bares took over both artistic direction and management, while continuing to direct productions on site.
Visitors find a modest but welcoming space where performances unfold close to the audience. The bar offers a place to relax before or after the show. The theatre’s programme focuses on intimate, innovative productions that reflect the creative spirit of Friedenau.
